Ten Minute Play Festival

The High Performance Rodeo is looking for expressions of interest to participate as part of the 2027 Ten Minute Play Festival.

The Opportunity

The 2027 Ten Minute Play Festival will take place in the Martha Cohen Theatre on January 16, 2027 with the 24-hour creation period commencing the evening of January 15. We invite expressions of interest from indie theatre companies or ad hoc groups of theatre artists who are interested in participating. 5-6 participant groups will be selected. Selected groups will be provided a small artist fee and limited technical support, but will be required to provide their own rehearsal/creation space.

About the Ten Minute Play Festival

The Ten Minute Play Festival is an exciting evening of innovative and electric short plays. Participants are given a prompt -- usually a line of text and a unique prop -- and are given 24 hours to create a brand-new ten-minute play. The result is an eclectic evening of performance that celebrates the creativity, ingenuity and spontaneity of Calgary’s theatre community.
