Almost Noise is the electrifying new collaboration between percussionist Chris Sies and guitarist Darren Young — two genre-blurring artists who thrive where rock energy meets classical precision.

Their debut program, Simple Songs, celebrates the beauty in what’s often dismissed as “low art.” With music that pulls from rock, pop, jazz, and post-minimalist soundscapes, the duo reimagines what chamber music can be — visceral, emotional, and defiantly alive.

From shimmering grooves to lush electronic textures, the duo celebrates the beauty in “simple” music and invites to audiences to hear the familiar in a whole new way.

Extraordinary music, soaring acoustics, and timeless beauty — all inside the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer. Curated by Damon Johnson, Artistic Director of the ProArts Society, this cherished series brings colour, creativity, and connection to Calgary’s thriving arts community.
