One Yellow Rabbit presents
Harsh Weather
Produced by Coral Maloney & Colleen Arcturus MacIsaac
What if the storm is already here?
Two performers, a 20-foot white tarp and a growing collection of household fans come together in Harsh Weather, an experimental performance about queer climate grief and our changing relationship with the natural world.
Beginning with simple gestures and quiet movements, Coral Maloney & Colleen Arcturus MacIsaac gradually create a mesmerizing encounter with a noisy, enveloping landscape of wind and fabric. As fans multiply and scenarios escalate, the landscape becomes something else entirely. At times comic, at times haunting, the performance shifts between theatre, dance, installation and performance art, inviting audiences to find their own meaning in what unfolds.
As red flags wave, lights go out and flashlights search through the rubble, a muffled, muttering soundscape draws audiences into their own relationship with weather and the climate crisis we’re all living through. Though each person’s encounter with the work is different, the experience is shared, inviting us to consider how we live with the weather we’ve made.
