Canary in a Coalmine

One Yellow Rabbit Presents
Canary in a Coalmine
Created and Performed by Sky Gilbert

What happens when old Hollywood gets a queer makeover?

There was a time when the silver screen was full of glamour, grand emotions and stars who knew how to make an entrance. Beneath all that polish, something else was waiting to be let loose.

Canary in a Coalmine is a new work by legendary Canadian playwright Sky Gilbert, steeped in the world of classic Hollywood melodrama. Expect larger-than-life characters, theatrical excess and a deliciously camp sensibility that knows exactly what it’s doing.

With a wink to the movies that shaped our imaginations, Canary in a Coalmine celebrates the art of making a scene. Because sometimes the most extraordinary thing you can do is take up space, turn up the drama and let the whole glorious spectacle unfold.
