For Your Health And Safety

On Arrival

You may be asked to do a health check prior to entering Arts Commons. Mask or face coverings are required at all times throughout the building.  Coat check will be unavailable during this time, please prepare accordingly. While cash is accepted, please make payments by credit or debit card whenever possible to create a touchless environment. However, because touchless is not always possible, staff, volunteers, and patrons are asked to wash and/or sanitize frequently. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout Arts Commons and the Big Secret Theatre.

Attending a Performance

You may be required to social distance in lines and may be asked to take your seats early to avoid congestion in the lobby. Food and beverage service may be limited to reduce congestion and potential transmission. In the initial stages of reopening, social distanced seating may be in place. Some seats may, therefore, remain empty to accommodate social distancing. Please do not change seats and remain in your seat. To facilitate a speedy and safe departure from the Big Secret Theatre, you may be asked to exit the theatre row by row..

Surfaces and Air Circulation

In addition to increased frequency of routine cleaning, as recommended by Alberta Health Services, venues, high-traffic areas, and frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized before, during, and after every event, in every venue. Energy-efficient Merv 14 Air filters (used in general areas of hospitals) have been installed to optimize air quality. The state-of-the-art system completely turns over the air volume in the Big Secret Theatre and across Arts Commons three times every hour.

Air Sterilization

Across all of Arts Commons an Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) solution in the building has implemented. This technology provides effective air sterilization through ultraviolet germicidal lights that produce short-wavelength light that destroys the genetic material in the nucleus of cells of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and molds. This UVGI system is installed in the ducts of the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and irradiates the small airborne particles containing microorganisms as the air flows through the return air ducts throughout Arts Commons. Treating the air at these locations also ensures that air exhausted from the building is also sterilized.
