Blake Brooker C.M., Artistic Director of One Yellow Rabbit, has announced that Laurel Green will be stepping into the role of Festival Producer of the Calgary High Performance Rodeo.

The role of festival producer was previously held by Kelly Reay, a local Albertan artist with a longstanding career in the performing arts in Calgary. Reay steps out of the role as he moves to Lethbridge, Alberta.

“In choosing a new Festival Producer, we looked for someone with a passion for the arts and for contemporary theatre in Calgary,” said Mr. Brooker. “As we head towards our 33rd Annual High Performance Rodeo, we believe that Laurel Green will bring innovative ideas and a fresh perspective on engaging the community of Calgary and beyond. We are excited to welcome Laurel into the OYR family. Her creativity and her experience working across a variety of national and local arts organizations will make her a valuable member of our team."

Green has many years of experience in theatre, as a director, producer, and administrator with professional theatres across North America – including most recently as the Director of Artistic Programming for Alberta Theatre Projects.

Green’s role will provide the company with a festival producer of the High Performance Rodeo, public programming opportunities, and be working with presenting partners.

“I am thrilled to join the One Yellow Rabbit team as Festival Producer for the 33rd Annual High Performance Rodeo, Calgary’s International Festival of the Arts. As a past Festival artist and avid audience member, I love the energy, risk, and excitement. Where else but the Rodeo can you see a show by your favourite artist, or catch something totally new; experience thought-provoking performances made in Calgary, alongside boundary-pushing works from across Canada and around the world? For me, the Rodeo is a destination that fosters new voices, offers artistic adventures, and makes space for change.” said Green.

Green officially stepped into the role on July 3.
