Dear Friends and Supporters,
It has been a truly challenging winter here at One Yellow Rabbit. The surprising and unwelcome loss of our ensemble members and colleagues has been a heavy blow. Life is precious and no more so than when it is snatched away so quickly. In the depth of our loss, it was difficult to see past the bleak reality of this epic theft of brotherhood. It was a new dark territory for us.
In the thick of this new reality, other forces asserted themselves; other qualities appeared to pierce the dense shadow of sorrow. Messages began to arrive in all forms: Whispers, letters, notes, texts, calls, tender communications from within our city and beyond. So many people reached out to comfort us, so many voices of consolation and solidarity, so many gestures of kindness and light.
We would like to express deep gratitude for all the beautiful acts of support and care that we received in the aftermath of our horrible winter. The kindness, this kind of kindness, is rare. More than enough to take your breath away, it restored our ability to breathe. Life affirming, life loving generosity from so many.
We would also like to let you know, on behalf on our Board and our colleagues, that we are moving forward, as our fallen comrades would expect and savour. Plans are hatching, progress is being made, and we are moving towards the light that has been shown us.

Another treat for your ears. Another treat for your eyes.
Calgary AB — One Yellow Rabbit (OYR) is thrilled to present Denise Clarke's Radioheaded 3: A Listening Party to Watch, as part of the 2015 Sled Island Festival. Featuring a cast of Calgary's twenty most talented emerging artists, Radioheaded 3: A Listening Party to Watch will be performed June 24th - 27th at 8pm in the Big Secret Theatre in Arts Commons (formerly the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts). Last year, Radiohead's In Rainbows was re-imagined through the bodies of 20 of Calgary's most beautiful and talented young artists. Returning to Sled Island for 2015 — the annual festival of sonic and artistic delights — Director Denise Clarke and her beautifulyoungartists crank-up the volume with their interpretation of another Radiohead album, Hail to the Thief. Radioheaded 3: A Listening Party to Watch promises to be like a favorite bedroom-dance party in One Yellow Rabbit style.
Denise Clarke describes this new production by saying, “You put on one of your favourite albums. You close your eyes. A weird film plays on the inside of your eyeballs. There are dozens of people moving through space, and wild lights and mean old bad guys and a hero-girl and the bed-ridden dreamer she ultimately saves. If you come to this Radioheaded Listening Party to watch and you keep your eyes open, that is kinda what the beautifulyoungartists and special guests will show you. It's scary, gorgeous and freaky and the performers don't kid around. They are indeed totally beautiful young artists.”
One Yellow Rabbit is elated to partner with Sled Island and share Radioheaded 3: A Listening Party to Watch with their amazing audience.
Radioheaded 3: A Listening Party to Watch features performances from: Eva Biro, Ian Buchanan, Mitch Cooper, Devon Dubnyk, Peter Estabrooks, Riah Fielding Walters, Rebecca Fishman, Evan Galbraith, Ryan Gray, Jarvis Hall, Mark Harper, Mark Ikeda, Kimberly Ilott, Will Knoll, Jennifer LeBlanc, Alexis Lereigny, Jason Mancini, Sheena Olsen, Thomas Poulsen, Patrick Quinn, Jamie Tognazzini, Pamela Tzeng, Chantal Wall and Allison Zwozdesky
ONE YELLOW RABBIT mourns the death of colleague Michael Green
It is with great sorrow that One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre confirms the tragic death of our dear friend, colleague and cultural activist, Michael Green. Michael was one of five victims of a fatal multi-vehicle car crash north of Regina, Saskatchewan, on the morning of Tuesday, February 10th, 2015. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by RCMP.
Michael was co-founder of, and writer, director and actor with One Yellow Rabbit; and founder / curator of the High Performance Rodeo. He was creative director of Calgary 2012 and executive producer/creator of the Making Treaty 7 Project. Michael was a proud ambassador for Calgary and a vital force in creating the cultural milieu that is Calgary today. He was an exuberant spirit who embraced the exceptional and the unusual and wanted to share it with as many people as possible. He inspired many with his originality; and he created much with his vision. We are grateful to him. His loss is felt deeply by all of us whose lives he touched.
We offer our deepest sympathies to his family and dear friends; in particular, to his wife Kim and his daughter Maya. One Yellow Rabbit extends our condolences and thoughts to the others who died in the car with Michael; Michele Sereda and Lacy Morin-Desjarlais; and Elder Narcisse Blood, who worked with Michael on Making Treaty 7.
