The 19th Annual High Performance Rodeo
International, home grown.
One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre has always exploded
conventional theatrical genres. But the bar is raised even further with
the annual High Performance Rodeo, now firmly established as Canada's leading
festival of new and experimental theatre. First hosted in 1987, and currently
in its 19th year, local and international artists have made the Rodeo their
premier showcase for modern creative work in every performance genre imaginable.
This is the 19th Annual High Performance Rodeo and the
lineup will prove to have something for everyone, be they performance art
aficionado, dance lover, art techno geek, indie music fan, or all round
Rodeo fanatic and One Yellow Rabbit admirer. Each of the artists presented
at this year's festival is a veteran of the road less travelled, and together—for
the month of January—they will aim to take those intrigued along
on an expedition to exotic ports unknown.
Feature events at the festival: Rodeo attendees will look back
in time to a defining moment near the end of World War II. Liberators,
Occupiers, and Population is a multi-faceted theatrical experiment
in three parts by three theatre companies from three nations (Canada, Germany
and Holland). Don’t miss this world premier commemorating the 60th
anniversary of a turning point in world history. The Suicide Girls will strut
out of the internet and into our hearts with their cutting-edge travelling
burlesque show. And finally, Laurie Anderson (NASA’s
first artist-in-residence) will take you to The End of the
Moon. With her violin, electronics and words, Anderson explores
the relationships between war, aesthetics, spirituality, and consumerism
in this mutli-media cultural event of the year.
One Yellow Rabbit is also pleased to announce the continuing support of
CBC Radio Calgary as our leading festival media sponsor. We thank CBC for
their participation. For more information on the CBC visit the

Greetings
to all those taking part in One Yellow Rabbit Theatre’s 2004-2005
main stage series and it’s annual High Performance Rodeo. Theatre takes
us on a voyage of self discovery and helps us cultivate new ways of looking
at life. Experimental theatre offers us a blend of innovative acting, directing,
writing, dance, choreography, music, and the visual arts. One Yellow Rabbit
Theatre is one of our country’s best multi-disciplinary performing
arts creators. It works with world renowned and emerging artists, offers
a mix of traditional and experimental theatre productions, and presents a
wide array of multicultural programming. Congratulations to all the artists
and organizers with One Yellow Rabbit, who have worked for more than two
decades to make theatre, in all its forms, accessible to Calgarians. The
Big Secret Theatre and it's High Performance Rodeo are an important part
of the city’s
vibrant and multicultural arts scene.
Enjoy the performances!
