Calgary Animated Objects Society

CAOS

International Festival of Animated Objects

From Everywhere - Prance like a butterfly, sing like a bee: Behold anthropomorphism without limits.

Spawned in the shadow, or stench, if you will, of a southeast Calgary chicken factory, CAOS burst onto the art scene in 2003 like a bison in a glass house. The organization is steered, chaotically, of course, by Xstine P. Cook, known variously as the wood-chopping, whip-cracking Xpandora, the green dragon Inferna, former co-artistic director and founder of Green Fools Theatre, or simply, that chick on the weird bike.

This series continues the High Performance Rodeo tradition of festivals-within-the-festival. In this case it's a wild, unpredictable ten-day celebration of all things animated, featuring shows, workshops, lectures, giant puppets, screenings, and a site-specific tour through Calgary's shape-shifting underground arts scene.

A joint production of CAOS and Green Fools Theatre
