For a parlor trick that's nigh on three thousand years old, the pinhole camera is a remarkably resilient form of entertainment. Witness Calgary painter Chris Cran's little plywood box of optically inverted merriment, back by popular demand and once again sited in the lobby of the Big Secret Theatre throughout the festival. Artists and performers of all kinds have taken to this curious peepshow version of the device, many offering their own planned or impromptu upside-down performances in front of the magic lens.
