The Old Trout Puppet WorkshopTHE LAST SUPPER OF ANTONIN CARÊME Big Secret Theatre - January 28 to February 21 From Calgary Here the Trouts summon the ghost of Antonin Carême, Le Cuisinier des rois et le Roi des cuisiniers, the grandfather of classical French cuisine. Left alone as a child at the gates of revolutionary Paris, Carême finds apprenticeship at the humble restaurant of an un-named chef who teaches him the mysteries of transcendental cookery. But who was that chef, and how did he come to teach a grubby urchin to be the greatest cook in history? Once again the Trouts plunge headlong into the stockpot to sing hallelujahs to the feast before us, illuminating no less than the very digestion of the world, the eternal and constant miracle of creation. Welcome to the first congregation of the Church of the Un-named Chef. This show is produced with the assistance of One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo. The Old Trout Puppet Workshop is dedicated to making professional puppet theatre, for both children and adults that blurs the distinction between the two. They explore the outer edges of the puppet medium to create original, unique, and exuberant art. They have toured their productions to Halifax, Edmonton, Ottawa, St. John’s, Montreal and Toronto. “Indelible visuals … weird and wonderful … by turn
