When it was launched four years ago, it wasn’t clear whether tenminute plays would actually work, or even if there was enough theatrical cannon-fodder around to risk the attempt. But the 10 Minute Play Festival has proved wildly popular both with audiences and the city’s emerging theatre artists, who, perplexingly, seem to relish the challenge of one stipulated concept and but 24 hours to turn it into a transcendent work of stark, punishing beauty. Or something. But short—really short.
