Bent Spoon Ensemble & Rodney Guitarsplat

CD RELEASE PARTY

Big Secret Theatre - January 9

From Calgary

Bent SpoonGet ready for anything from spook-dirge vamps to melody-driven instrumental rock to chaotic free jazz freakouts.

The Bent Spoon Ensemble is a quartet of Calgary’s more tilted purveyors of avant-garde improvisations. What began as a one-off has turned into a durable combo that has been likened to “Yo La Tengo covering Ornette Coleman,” and caught the ear of Western Famine Recordings’ Lorrie Matheson, who produced their debut CD "none nothing sometimes". On stage, they’re joined by fellow experimenter Bartok Guitarsplat (aka Rodney Brent), well known for wielding an electric mandolin along with his collection of homemade pedals, loops and sculpted tableware.
