Five Hole (n.)
1. The space between a goalie's legs.
2. A new show that brings Canada's two favourite pastimes-hockey and sex-together at last on one rollicking theatre stage.
A chronic minor-leaguer discovers the wonders--and the pitfalls--of the game in Europe, both on and off the ice. An NHL goalie is tight with his teammate, the league's leading scorer, but dreams of getting MUCH tighter. A star on a losing streak turns to a magical salve to restore his winning touch. These and other tales make up this scintillating look at hockey with its sweaty clothes off.
Full of sex, drugs and high-sticking, Five Hole is co-created and performed live by two of Canada's best known creative forces: Calgary's One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre and legendary Toronto rock band Rheostatics. Five Hole features original music composed and performed by the band.

About Rheostatics
For more than two decades Rheostatics have mapped new frontiers across Canada, embracing the nation that bore them and reinterpreting its sea-to-shining-sea grandeur in music of startling variety and indisputable beauty. Led by stalwarts Dave Bidini and Martin Tielli, their music has been described variously as "prog-rock," "art-rock," "orchestral psychedelia" and "a loosely organized cacophony of sound," all of which reveal the frustrating limits of language.
Rheostatics have released eleven albums since 1987, inspired by such national treasures as the Group of Seven, Stompin' Tom Connors, rolling prairies, Canada's national game, les couriers du bois and more. In a millennial survey of Canadian music critics, Rheostatics had two albums--Melville and Whale Music--in the top ten Canadian records of all time. "Canada Listens," sponsored by CBC's Saturday afternoon magazine Definitely Not the Opera, chose Whale Music as the single rock album with which all Canadians had to be familiar.
About Dave Bidini
A master storyteller, Rheostatic Dave Bidini lifts the hockey story to the level of modern Canadian folklore. He has become popular in recent years as one of Canada's best-known authors, having published several books including two critically acclaimed volumes on hockey culture: Tropic of Hockey and The Best Game You Can Name (McClelland & Stewart).
"Dave Bidini is a heck of a good writer. His prose is almost conversational, creating an effect like a guy sitting at a bar telling you a good story."
