For the upteenth time, One Yellow Rabbit has been selected as the Best Theatre Company in Fast Forward's annual Best of Calgary awards.
Thanks to all our loyal followers who supported us in the voting. We are pleased and honoured to be recognized for our contribution to the cultural and commercial vibrancy of Calgary. It certainly motivates us to continue producing innovative and original performance theatre including the High Performance Rodeo.
Kudos to our very own Mark Hopkins who was selected among the hardest working Calgarians. We can certainly vouch for him cause the dude never sleeps.
Way to go Mark! Now stop blushing and get back to work.
Paul Thompson is one of the few, and one of the originals – one of the undeniable pioneers of contemporary Canadian theatre. He is an originator of "creation theatre" in Canada, and co-founder of Toronto's Theatre Passe Muraille. You can learn all about Paul's many landmark achievements at www.canadiantheatre.com
Blake Brooker and I met Paul Thompson 25 years ago, during the very early days of One Yellow Rabbit. It was a time of great challenge for our young company, and more than once Paul's generosity and vision steered us through difficult times. I think Paul has enjoyed "godfathering" One Yellow Rabbit through the years.
One Yellow Rabbit's Executive Director Erin O'Connor and I were indescribably proud to be present when Paul was awarded the Governor General's Arts Award at Ottawa's National Arts Centre on May 14, 2011.
